Club Group: George Sinclair, Front Row, second left
The two pages above show how important the inter-club fixtures were in the 1930’s: two held on consecutive Saturdays, one away and one at home. There were the three packs on each occasion. It also indicates how personal the diary was to George: comments on the weather for the entry of 16th December where he criticised the weather and the Glasgow runners with the only enjoyable aspect of the day was the hot baths. He was, justifiably I think, very critical of the Glasgow YMCA for not turning up. Having arranged the fixture and the date, they were obliged to turn up or to let the host club know beforehand that they would not be able to fulfil the event. And again we see a photograph of Scottish athletics interest generally included in the week’s report.
